Spiralled Shell - Australian Poetry Journal

I have detached myself
from my care for you
in identity, in emotion, in denial
and if that's what it takes to survive
I will float so far away
your heaven will have no choice but to take me.
Until you find: I'm no longer
in the spiralled shell
you made of me,
and too, vacate.
Until, slowly,
the letters of my own name
form a mantra
I can return home to.
